Parking is available at the intersection of Mimosa & Fairmont or First Baptist Church at 1000 Friendly Ave. There will also be information tables with maps at these locations. Bathrooms are available in Lake Daniel Park at the intersection of Mimosa & Fairmont.

“Westerwood is a mix of cozy single-family homes, roomy duplexes, and attractive apartment spots. We first moved here back in 1988. I was instantly hooked by the mix of people, the leafy streets, and the fact that a park borders the whole neighborhood. We once considered a move, but couldn’t find another Greensboro spot that could compare. 

I knew there were a bunch of artists here, but the first Art & Sole (back in 2009) blew my mind with how much talent lives on these blocks. Painters, sculptors, photographers, woodworkers, potters, all kinds of crafts.  Every year, I look forward to our neighborhood “art party promenade” — it’s part gallery walk, part block party, and 100% celebration of all the creativity and good vibes that make Westerwood so special.”

Historic Westerwood

One of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, Westerwood was annexed by the city in 1891 and formally incorporated as a subdivision around 1920. Westerwood features tree-lined streets, classic architecture, and a creative spirit. The neighborhood is home to the historic Harden Thomas Martin House (listed on the national register of historic places), now the Double Oaks, and today houses Down Home Carolina and Borough Coffee. Situated between downtown and multiple colleges and universities, it represents a vibrant cross-section of the city. A walk down its streets will reveal murals, award-winning gardens, and occasional artistic surprises.
