Hello neighbors and friends –

A quick reminder of the UNCG annual homecoming celebrations happening October 16-22. As in past years, our nearby neighbors will notice some traffic changes and noise associated with the many activities on campus.

On Friday, October 20, we will host a soccer game with food trucks, and a celebration bonfire and fireworks. The fireworks are modified this year; they do not go as high in the air, do not explode as loudly, and will be shorter. We expect fireworks to be approximately 5 minutes in duration, with a much lower noise level than in the past. The fireworks show is from a licensed, state-inspected contractor.

On Saturday, October 21, we will host the annual 5K run/walk/roll event. You will see increased traffic and congestion near campus. Spring Garden, Walker, and Gray Drive will be closed for several hours. Later that afternoon, you will hear music from various bands, DJ’s, and other performers. We will have a variety of events with amplified sound from about 2:30pm to 7:00pm. The band “Sleeping Booty” will play (with amplified sound) from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. You should expect to hear the loud music from about 3:30pm to 7:00pm.

You can find more information about all the Homecoming events at: http://homecoming.uncg.edu/.

If you have questions or concerns, direct those to me (full contact information is below in the signature lines). You are invited to enjoy the Homecoming festivities with us on Saturday; most events are free and open to all alumni, neighbors, and friends.
